Maureen N. Armour

Maureen N. Armour, Co-Director of the Civil Clinic and Associate Professor of Law at Dedman School of Law, joined the SMU faculty in 1989. She earned a B.A. degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, a M.S.W. degree at the University of California, Berkeley and a J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law. She has taught courses on civil rights, constitutional law, federal litigation and poverty law. In addition to clinical teaching and administration responsibilities, Professor Armour has assisted in the development of several grants and of clinic curriculum. In 2001, she received the Louise B. Raggio Award from the Dallas Women Lawyer's Association for demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and contributing significantly to the advancement of women attorneys. Prior to SMU, she practiced law at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, becoming a partner in 1988. She also clerked for Judge Barefoot Sanders of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. She retires as Professor Emerita of Law.
